The Full Story

In 1996 he trained for 6 months with the Brazilian Air Force. However, Marcel remained loyal to his true passion; Jiu Jitsu. In 2001 he joined Kezen Jiu Jitsu PE academy where he trained until he earned his purple belt. While holding his white, blue and purple belt Marcel won several Jiu Jitsu championships in the North/Northeast and Pernambucano. At the age of 26 he moved to Belem, PA. where he continued to study and train the art of Jiu Jitsu, and was promoted to brown belt. On the 12th of July 2013 Marcel earned his black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

 

The honor was bestowed upon him by Master Walter Pinto Da Silva (Broca) and recorded with the CBJJ (Confederação Brasileira De Jiu Jitsu). He then began his goal of teaching the gentle art to others. After six years Marcel moved professor for three years in St. Cloud, FL. for Fabin Rosa Jiu Jitsu. On March 12th, 2015 he was recognized and registered with the International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation (IBJJF). During those three years as professor he trained students for championship competitions, World Championship tournaments, Pan American and European Championship tournaments. Today Marcel is realizing his dream of opening his own Jiu Jitsu academy. He takes the art of Jiu Jitsu and its lifestyle to heart, he leads by example and is a great influence on his students.

Marcel is a background screened and certified black belt through the IBJJF. He is also certified in CPR/AED, First Aid and U.S. Center for Safe Sport trained. Family is very important to him, he has a beautiful wife Mari Portilho and three wonderful children, daughter Bianca, son Gabriel and his youngest son Miguel.

Professor Marcel Portilho looks forward everyday to taking his students to the next level, pushing them to succeed and teaching the philosophy and lifestyle of Jiu Jitsu.
